I Need Your Support and Endorsement
undergoing extreme conflicting opinions regarding City Manager vs. Elected Mayor- Council government reform. For the next four year, through two re-elections, I served with the first trailblazing council members to effectively mold Council to become a respected, legislative branch as required for our Mayor-Council reformed government. This experience has forever created in me a new respect for each branch of government with a determination to be govern by principles of decency and respect the rights of all people. This letter is to announce my candidacy to serve as the Councilwoman-reelect for the 6th District of Virginia Capitol City of Richmond and to ask for your support and endorsement. . I would be honored to continue this significant work to align the principles of our government branches to promote a unified visionary plan of the City where all people are served; energizing the unlimited power and capacity we have as Richmonders. With your support, I will carry out a visionary development strategy which enhances the quality of life you experience, choosing to spend every tax dollar wisely and standing strong on my commitment to open, transparent government. I believe it is absolutely necessary that more light be shed on our government operation performances, and our awarding of public dollars in grants, procurement, and contracts; especially in light of the recent waste discovered by audits of both the administration and schools. Saving identified must be achieved. Citizens’ trust in government is an unconditional must. You have a right to know how your tax dollars are spent. Over the next four years, Richmond must engage both young professionals and our middle income families to work and do business in our City. Equally as important, the City must give greater attention to the quality and diversity of community development to protect and preserve our history, our environment and natural resources, while strengthening our economic and social tapestry. We must put Richmonders to work in the City and reduce the increased cost of government due to blight and under employment.
crime prevention.
Instruction, citizens will see a major changes in legislative and budget decisions in the future for public education. I encourage continual support to the men and women of Richmond's police department for the great job done addressing crime and public safety. Not all crime is down, but the major crimes are. The long-term solution to reducing crime is sustainable work opportunities for poor and low-income families. Richmond government needs to give special attention to economic growth through jobs and business development in our high crime neighborhoods which all have the common denominator of high under and unemployment. The majority of families of poverty welcome an opportunity to earn a decent income to care for their families. It is cost effective for the City to invest in a comprehensive poverty reduction through economic empowerment strategy. We can and should do this. With your support and endorsement, I will continue to serve the City. To run a successful campaign, a budget of not less than $40,000 to $60,000 is required. Your earnest support is greatly appreciated. In addition, I welcome volunteers, and in-kind contribution. I am also available to met with you and discuss the campaign, my platform and answer your questions.
